St Clare’s Independent School Trust (SCIST) aims to preserve the local independent education provision within Porthcawl by opening a new, not-for-profit independent school where the current St Clare’s school (due to close in December 2025) currently stands.
The planned closure of St Clare’s creates a gap in the local independent education provision. The closure has impacted around 200 pupils and removes over 400 possible independent school places from the local provision. In addition, over 50 jobs will be lost within the local area.
St Clare’s Independent School Trust (SCIST) is incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) company number 16459676; as such, is not-for-profit, with no shareholders, so all surpluses will be reinvested in education.
